Hare Mask - "Sirocco"

Sirocco the Hare
Like all the hares that emerge from my workshop, Sirocco is named after a wind. The Sirocco is a warm wind that travels north from the Sahara across the Mediterranean, carrying with it the heat and golden light of summer. It seemed a fitting name for this hare, who arrived in the days around the Summer Solstice and has something of long evenings and sun-warmed grasses about her.
Perhaps she has paused awhile amongst the bracken and foxgloves, or rested beneath the old oaks before continuing her travels.
This Hare mask is perfect as a display piece or for wearing in the wild.
Handcrafted from natural wool, the mask is lightweight for its size, comfortable to wear and affords good visibility. It comes with an adjustable elastic fitting and a separate mounting pad, allowing it to be displayed easily as wall art when not in use.
The eyes shown in the photographs are felted onto the removable mounting pad and complete the display, but are not part of the mask itself. The reverse of the mask is lined with soft polycotton for comfort.
As with all Valerian Fibres masks, Sirocco is entirely handmade and one of a kind. No two creatures are ever quite the same, and I like to think that each waits patiently until the right home finds it.
